Religious School Starts (September 2013)

As I write this article, I am on a staycation enjoying some leisure time. The summer months seem to fly by so quickly but I do hope that everyone had a chance to spend some family time together. Now it is almost time for me to change gears and get into a different routine.

I have been busy with the tasks of preparing for our opening day of Religious School on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. Wednesday classes for grades 5, 6 and 7 begin on September 11 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Books are ordered, class rosters are ready and teachers are excited to meet their new students.

On opening day of school, September 8, we will all begin the morning with a Tefillah service in the Sanctuary promptly at 9:00 a.m. led by Rabbi Bennett and Cantor Gordon. Students will go to their classrooms following the service. There will be an easel in the lobby with class lists, room numbers, teachers names, etc. so that all students will know what classrooms to go to. Dismissal at I l:30 a.m. will be at the back entrance.

Beginning Sunday, September 15, students will go directly to their classrooms. Entry and dismissal to the school is through the back doors near the parking lot, where parent volunteers will ensure the safety of our children. School begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. Teachers are ready to begin instruction at that time. Please have students arrive on time with books, pencils and smiles!

On Sunday, September 29, parents are invited to a meeting where I will discuss the curriculum and school policies, and answer questions. Parents will have the opportunity to visit the classrooms and meet your child/children’s teachers. Please gather in the multi-purpose room at 9:00 a.m. to schmooze and socialize.  The formal part of the meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m.

I look forward to another year of enrichment and enthusiasm for both leaming and teaching, and can’t wait to see the classrooms filled with students leaming, singing, and laughing together. Please call (860-561-1055 ext. 15) or e-mail new-message24 me with any suggestions or concems as they arise during the school year. Please do not wait until the end of the year to express concerns when it’s too late to address problems. Your children’s best interests are most important and I do appreciate your input to ensure that both learning and appropriate behavior are practiced in our school. If you have a child with special needs, please let me know so we can work together to ensure success in the learning process.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday, September 8. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

l’Shalom,

Rena Citron, Director of Education new-message24
